A YEAR DEFINED BY RESILIENCE
AND INSPIRATION
Despite COVID lockdowns and school upheavals, our PROPEL students continued to thrive, grow and learn. Having the courage and perseverance to overcome difficult challenges is what defines the PROPELIAN spirit! And at no time in PROPEL’s illustrious 18-year history was this more apparent, than this past semester. We are so proud of our students and forever grateful to all those in our community who continue to support us and our mission. What follows is a review of some of PROPEL’s highlights of this past semester. Truth be said, nothing compares to Ma Kayla’s amazing smile or Valencia’s stunning academic achievements. It’s the joy and accomplishments of our students which will always define us and fill our hearts.

SAT Bootcamp!
Joshua Shampaner, founder of The Top Score Tutor, has for years provided exemplary assistance to our juniors and seniors in preparation for their Standardized Academic Test, (SAT). This past semester Josh provided weekly classroom instruction for our students, and additionally provided complimentary zoom, one-onone sessions to students. We are so very thankful for his continued commitment to PROPEL’s mission to optimize the potential within each of our students. It should be noted that this valuable program is FREE for all PROPEL students, as is the case for all our programs, and it is through the continued assistance from our donors, that allows this program to continue to be offered. For questions regarding private tutoring, feel free to contact Josh directly at (954) 649-1216.
Learning to Program with CodeCombat!
Learning to code helps to strengthen critical, analytical thinking and it is therefore PROPEL’s aim to expose as many of our students as possible to computer programming and coding. Led by our wonderful alumni, Shaena Fray, PROPEL students utilized CodeCombat, a game-based coding platform, to learn to write code using beginner-friendly strategies.
KickBoxing with Caio!
Kickboxing is integral to the PROPEL experience as it provides improved cardiovascular health and boosts confidence and self-esteem. Every Monday the amazing Caio provides kickboxing classes for our students, and they love it!!
TEAM BUILDING:
Marshmallow Challenge, Spelling Bee,
Pumpkin Carving and Gingerbread Houses!
Team building activities were in full force this semester with exciting activities that focused on strengthening team cooperation and creativity. The Marshmallow Challenge brought our students creativity to new HEIGHTS; our amazing tutor director, Tanisha Paul, led several team building spelling bees, our students carved pumpkins and created Gingerbread Houses bringing in the holidays with heartwarming smiles and so much joy.
NOTHING beats a PROPEL Christmas Party!!
